About Us
Christina and Carolina met 47 years ago at school and since those days, they've had a fun filled friendship that has been full of adventures along the way. When they were young, they worked on the Greek island of Zakynthos and now that their children have grown up, they get together each year to return to their beloved island, normally driving around in a pink buggy with a chimpanzee in tow!
Christina is a Qualified Gymnastics Coach and has spent many years running a gymnastics club in Surrey. She has around 400 children attending her classes each week so is very experienced when working with children of all ages. Although her working life has been in the sport of gymnastics, Christina has always enjoyed writing poems and stories, and during Lockdown 2020, when her gymnastics club had to close, she found more time to write poems and spent hours in her garden shed doing so, recording them with various puppets she had in the attic!
Carolina spent her early career working as a Carer with the elderly and then later worked as a Nanny to two children for 5 years. Through her love of dogs, she also started her own ‘Dog Walking’ business. She now has three rescue dogs and spends a fair amount of time also looking after her daughter’s 3 beautiful little Pomeranians when she works away from home. Dogs have been a big part of Carolina’s life. She loves nothing more than taking long walks with them each day, often joined by Christina and her dog too.
It was on one of those dog walks, Christina suggested to Carolina that she join her in the shed! They soon diversified by bringing voices to the puppets, using them to tell stories, recording videos, and simply having a whole lot of fun! They enjoyed themselves so much and laughed so hard, they have decided to share the fun and laughter, and what better way to do it, than to offer gatherings for little people! The idea of bringing the puppets to life, offering Arts & Crafts, Movement to Music, Singing and Storytime all in one day, led to THE BANANA BOX being born.
